About
I purchased a used CNC 6040 water cooled router as a restoration project and workshop tool. The machine required a combination of mechanical repair, control system setup, calibration, and general maintenance before it could be used reliably.

Restoring the Motion System
Worn linear bearings were replaced and the rails and ball screws were cleaned and lubricated. The machine was then calibrated in LinuxCNC to match commanded movement with physical travel, followed by testing and adjustment of feed rates and axis motion.
